In the first half of 2024, Globe successfully blocked 1,718 domains and 190,167 URLs linked to child pornography. This is a significant increase from the 1,295 domains and 129,652 URLs intercepted during the same period in 2023.

Likewise, Globe has ramped up its efforts against illegal gambling sites, disabling 2,726 domains in the first six months of 2024, a rise from 1,828 during the same timeframe the previous year.

Since launching its #MakeITSafePH campaign in 2017, Globe has consistently aligned its actions with the Anti-Child Pornography Act of 2009 (Republic Act 9775). This law requires internet service providers (ISPs) to implement technologies that block access to or transmission of child pornography.

"Globe is committed to fostering a safer online environment for everyone, particularly children. Our escalated efforts to limit access to harmful content demonstrate our dedication to maintaining the highest standards of online safety,” stated Anton Bonifacio, Globe’s Chief Information Security Officer and Chief AI Officer.

Globe’s dedication to this cause is further emphasized by its investment of over $2.7 million in sophisticated content filtering systems to boost its ability to detect and block illegal content.

The company also works closely with various organizations, including the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Department of Justice (DOJ), Philippine Chamber of Telecommunications Operators, and non-government organizations to strengthen online child protection.

Globe’s proactive measures are vital in addressing this disturbing trend, as highlighted by a study from the US-based National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), which identified the Philippines as a primary source of Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) content.

The company’s initiatives extend beyond blocking access to harmful content. Through its #MakeITSafePH campaign, Globe conducts comprehensive educational programs and awareness activities to equip users with the knowledge and tools necessary for online self-protection.

Globe’s efforts aim to cultivate a culture of digital responsibility and ensure a safer internet experience for all Filipinos.
