Globe Pledge to Boost Connectivity in Visayas

Globe’s Pledge to Boost Connectivity in Visayas

#Globe is dedicated to enhancing its network to provide comprehensive connectivity and advanced services to the regions. This commitment was recently reaffirmed to the business community of Cebu by Patrick Gloria, Globe’s Vice President of External Affairs.

Gloria addressed the 15th annual Asia CEO Forum at Fili Hotel, Nustar Cebu, where business leaders convened to strategize on propelling their businesses and contributing to Metro Cebu’s economic growth. The forum emphasized the integration of cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) to revolutionize business operations and stimulate regional growth.

Gloria emphasized, “In the digital era, connectivity is a universal right. Globe is dedicated to eliminating the digital divide, ensuring that everyone can reap the benefits of the digital age.”

He highlighted Globe’s initiatives in Cebu to cater to the growing demand for connectivity. Over the past three years, the deployment of new cell sites and expansion of existing ones have strengthened the cellular infrastructure, increasing network coverage by 34% in Cebu City, 10% in Lapu-Lapu City, 9% in Mandaue City, and 47% in the rest of the province.

Globe is also replacing its outdated copper infrastructure with advanced fiber technology, significantly improving internet speeds and reliability. In the last five years, Globe has installed 241,000 fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) lines, with 30% in Cebu City, 12% in Mandaue City, 12% in Lapu-Lapu City, and 46% across the province.

Gloria stressed the importance of investing in people alongside infrastructure. Globe is customer-centric, committed to understanding their unique needs and addressing them through innovative technology.

As Globe evolves into a full-fledged technology company, it explores solutions that democratize financial services, primary healthcare, and e-commerce. Through its digital platforms, including GCash and KonsultaMD, Globe empowers individuals and businesses, fostering a more inclusive and resilient digital economy.

Globe’s sustainability commitment is evident in its adherence to the United Nations Global Compact Principles and its pledge to achieve zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Gloria acknowledged the crucial role of partnerships with national government agencies and local government units (LGUs) in expediting the deployment of connectivity infrastructure by streamlining the permitting process.

The Asia CEO Forum Cebu highlighted the pivotal role of digital transformation in driving economic development and enhancing the lives of people in the Visayas. Globe’s ongoing efforts towards inclusive connectivity are instrumental in achieving these goals, ensuring a bright and prosperous future for Metro Cebu and the nation.
