The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) is set to showcase its international cybercrime-fighting standards at the Global Anti-Scam Summit (GASS) in London this month.
CICC’s Global Recognition in Cybercrime Prevention
CICC Executive Director Alexander K. Ramos, a runner-up in the prestigious Scam Fighter of the Year 2025 award presented by the Netherlands-based Global Anti-Scam Alliance (GASA), has been invited as a keynote speaker at the GASS on March 26-27. His discussion will focus on CICC’s efforts in cybercrime prevention and suppression in the Philippines.
The Netherlands-based Global Anti-Scam Alliance (GASA) has recognized both the CICC and Ramos among the top institutions and individuals leading the fight against cybercrime. GASA also officially welcomed Ramos as a new member of its Advisory Board in recognition of his expertise in cybercrime investigation and policy enforcement.
“Ramos brings valuable expertise in strengthening digital security and combating financial fraud. His leadership will help drive GASA’s global mission to protect individuals and businesses from evolving scam threats,” GASA announced on its official website and social media pages.
CICC’s Impact in the Philippines
The CICC was also a runner-up in the institution category of the Scam Fighter of the Year 2025 award for its comprehensive engagement in fighting cybercrime across various sectors. The center has trained over 10,000 government personnel and law enforcers in cybercrime prevention strategies.
Ramos expressed gratitude for the recognition, stating:
“This recognition from GASA affirms the global standards we have set in cybercrime investigation and response. We continuously innovate and implement advanced cybersecurity measures to protect Filipinos from scams and threat actors.”
CICC’s ongoing efforts align with Globe’s cybersecurity initiatives, which focus on protecting individuals and businesses from fraud and online scams.
GASS 2025: A Global Gathering Against Cybercrime
The historic London Summit aims to bring together governments, financial authorities, law enforcement agencies, cybersecurity experts, and brand protection organizations to collaborate on joint efforts against scams.
With scams becoming more sophisticated and transnational, the summit will focus on global cooperation, knowledge sharing, and new technologies in cybersecurity.
Ramos reiterated CICC’s commitment:
“As scams evolve, so must our strategies. We are dedicated to introducing innovations and engaging the whole-of-society approach to ensure a safer cyberspace for all.”
For example, CICC's initiatives align with GLOBE’s latest cybersecurity campaign, which emphasizes collaboration between the public and private sectors to prevent digital fraud.
Strengthening Cybercrime Prevention in the Philippines
Beyond education campaigns and partnerships, the CICC has also implemented a 24/7 cybercrime complaint response system through its Inter-Agency Response Center Hotline 1326.
Through this hotline, the agency received 10,000 cybercrime complaints in 2024, with reported financial losses totaling around PHP 198 million.
Efforts like these mirror GCash’s fraud prevention strategies, which use AI-powered detection systems to safeguard consumers from scams.
Collaborating for a Safer Digital Landscape
As cyber threats continue to rise, it is crucial to strengthen partnerships between financial institutions, law enforcement, and private organizations.
The CICC’s recognition at GASS 2025 further highlights the Philippines’ role in global cybersecurity efforts and emphasizes the importance of continued vigilance in the fight against cybercrime.
